DUBAI / THE VISITOR GUIDE

Smile Makeover in Dubai: 10 Things to Know Before You Travel

Your Guide to a New Smile

Dubai is an established destination for tourism and medical travel, including dentistry. For visitors considering veneers or a smile makeover in Dubai, modern planning and laboratory-made restorations can help coordinate care around a trip. Dubai offers a wide choice of cosmetic dental care, with experienced clinicians, modern technology and specialist dental laboratories. Choosing the right dentist and treatment plan remains essential. What fits a short stay still depends on assessment and the clinical stages involved. To judge value against treatment at home, compare the complete plan, materials and follow-up.

Your smile is a long-term investment in comfort and confidence. I plan carefully for a result that suits your face and still feels recognisably yours, with maintenance considered from the start. These ten questions explain what to discuss before you travel and what to expect when you arrive.

01What is a smile makeover, and which treatment is right for me?

A smile makeover is a personalised treatment plan to improve your smile’s appearance while considering the health and function of your teeth. Your smile is part of your everyday life, at work, with family and in the moments that matter to you. It can influence how you feel about yourself and how comfortably you interact with others. That is why I encourage you to take time over the decision and choose care that supports your comfort, confidence and long-term dental health.

I start by understanding what you would like to change and assessing your dental health. Whitening may help with the colour of natural teeth. Veneers can change the appearance of the front surfaces, while crowns may be appropriate for teeth that need more substantial restoration. Different teeth can need different care.

A smile makeover may combine these approaches with other necessary treatment. I’ll explain your options, including whether a simpler approach or no cosmetic treatment is appropriate. My aim is to preserve healthy tooth structure wherever possible and recommend care that suits your teeth, gums and bite.

02How do I choose a cosmetic dentist in Dubai?

I recommend checking the full registered name, licence and relevant experience of the dentist who will treat you. The Dubai Health Authority’s Medical Registry can help you check DHA-regulated professionals and facilities.

You should expect an unhurried, professional consultation, clear explanations of the alternatives and time for your questions. Look for a plan tailored to your teeth and goals, rather than a preset package. Ask how healthy tooth structure will be protected and whether another clinician needs to be involved. You should feel able to make an informed decision without pressure.

03Can I discuss my smile before travelling?

Yes. My care team can personally arrange a video consultation before you travel. I’ll listen to your concerns and goals, discuss your medical and dental history, and explain potential options. We can talk through the treatment process, the factors that influence cost, things to consider and next steps.

This is also a chance to ask questions and discuss how an assessment might fit your visit. I want you to have the information you need to make an informed decision. Any treatment outline or timing discussed remotely is provisional. An in-person examination, dental scan and any other necessary investigations in Dubai are needed to confirm suitability and finalise your plan.

04What should my written treatment plan include?

I begin with a comprehensive dental assessment and a 3D intraoral scan, creating a detailed digital model of your teeth and bite to help plan your treatment. I also take high-resolution photographs of your smile as part of the assessment. I assess tooth colour, shape and proportions, alignment, bite, gums and existing dental work. Further investigations may be needed before we finalise your plan.

Your written plan will set out my recommendations, reasons and the alternatives, itemised fees and inclusions, appointment stages and aftercare. I take an unhurried approach, explain your options and answer your questions so you can make an informed decision without pressure. It should explain what can fit your travel dates and whether another visit may be needed.

I explain the suitable options and how they differ in materials, appearance, expected longevity and cost, so we can discuss the trade-offs together. Where appropriate, I recommend a combination of treatments to meet your goals and budget while protecting your dental health. Cost-effective care means avoiding unnecessary treatment and considering ongoing costs alongside the initial fee. Please bring existing records if requested and share your medical history, medicines and allergies through the clinic’s agreed process.

05Why is careful veneer planning worth the investment?

I want you to be comfortable with the intended appearance before treatment begins. We’ll discuss shade, shape and proportion, alongside the materials, preparation and clinical checks your teeth need.

Where appropriate, digital smile design can help you visualise proposed changes to the shape and proportions of your teeth, so we can discuss the direction together.

Veneer preparation can remove enamel irreversibly. Teeth may become sensitive, and veneers can chip or loosen. I’ll discuss these risks, the alternatives and future maintenance with you. A shade or shape you have not properly discussed may leave you unhappy with the appearance. Fit and bite also need careful checking.

Veneers and crowns can last 10–15 years, sometimes longer, but I cannot promise that lifespan for an individual patient. Some need repair or replacement sooner. Tooth condition, materials, grinding, clinical technique and ongoing care all matter. Poor planning or execution can increase the risk of early complications, which is why careful assessment, preparation, bonding and bite checks are important.

06How long should I stay in Dubai for a smile makeover?

I’ll plan the schedule around the treatment you need, including any dental care required first. Veneers may involve separate planning, preparation, laboratory and fitting stages, followed by a review.

We’ll discuss the likely sequence, what could change it and whether one stay could complete your care. Please tell me if your return date is fixed. I recommend leaving room for decisions, reviews and adjustments rather than trying to fit every stage into the shortest possible stay.

Be cautious about one-day treatment promises and fixed-price packages unless you understand the options, inclusions and trade-offs. Speed or a headline offer should never replace an individual assessment and a clear explanation of the plan.

07How are veneers made, fitted and reviewed?

I work with carefully selected dental laboratories and skilled technicians, chosen for the quality and reliability of their work. Each veneer is made to fit the tooth it covers, using my clinical records. I’ll explain which ceramic is proposed for each restoration and why it suits your teeth, bite and intended appearance. Laboratory work takes place between clinical stages, with temporary restorations where needed.

Each veneer or crown is custom-made to my specifications, then checked for fit, appearance and how your teeth meet before final placement. I also check comfort and make any necessary adjustments. Follow-up reviews help me assess comfort and how everything is settling. Please allow time for the recommended review and an extra visit if something needs attention. A laboratory completion date alone does not finish your clinical care.

08What do veneers and smile makeovers cost in Dubai?

Patients can expect to see a wide range of pricing. However, a headline price may not reflect the full treatment cost or explain how the available options differ in materials, quality, expected results and long-term value. I encourage you to compare a written, itemised plan, including the materials, clinical work and follow-up, so you understand both the cost and the expected result.

These are general Dubai price guides, including standard or starting prices for whitening. These are not my fees or a quotation for your care. A smile makeover needs a personalised written quotation based on your treatment, the number of teeth, materials, laboratory work and any care needed first.

Before deciding, ask for an itemised total showing inclusions and possible extras: assessment, imaging, previews, temporary restorations, fitting, reviews and applicable VAT. Clarify future maintenance charges and deposit or cancellation terms.

Check the number of teeth, materials, clinician, proposed preparation and follow-up, and whether an offer is for veneers or crowns. Price alone does not establish quality or suitability. I would not recommend choosing irreversible treatment or a fixed number of veneers solely to qualify for an offer.

09Can I fit appointments around meetings or holiday plans?

Please tell my team about important meetings, celebrations and your return flight. We can discuss which appointments need flexibility and what to consider between stages, particularly if you will have temporary restorations.

I recommend leaving time for a review before you depart. I’ll explain the eating, cleaning and activity precautions relevant to your treatment. Make sure you have written instructions and a contact route for concerns before making firm plans for the rest of your stay.

10How is aftercare arranged when I return home?

If you have any questions or concerns after returning home, you’re welcome to contact me to arrange a follow-up call or video consultation. We can discuss your questions, recovery and ongoing care after you return home. We’ll also agree which reviews are needed and how to contact the clinic. A video review cannot replace local in-person assessment or treatment when needed.

I recommend requesting copies of your treatment summary, scans and images, restoration details and aftercare instructions. These help any dentist who cares for you in future understand what was done. Discuss continuing care with your usual dentist; a handover is not automatic.

I will recommend a maintenance routine suited to your teeth and treatment, including brushing technique, suitable toothbrushes and interdental cleaning aids, and regular reviews. Where appropriate, I may also recommend a custom night guard for grinding or clenching, or a sports mouthguard. Together, these steps aim to help keep your new smile healthy and beautiful for years to come.
